Recently I purchased items from a wholesaler based in China and I purchased off him to resell the items. These items look and feel like the ridgey didge item. I have an Authentic "Friends" set that I purchased last year from Amazon and that is an authentic copy. When I started purchasing (3 times in all) from this supplier I ordered "Friends" and a few other items. I never opened it as I was going to resell it but it looked exactly the same as the one I had from Amazon a couple of the items that I got had chinese writing on it but I just thought that they realeased these versions for the Asian market and that is why it had the writing like that and the Japenese and Chinese subtitles. They advertise that they are authentic so I had no reason to suspect otherwise. It wasn't until I was banded from selling them on Ebay as a copy of "Sex and the city" had a typo on the box and they believed it to be fraudulent. I took all my other items down and opened the packet to have a look. The discs in side are very professional looking certainly not the home burned type that I got of the other guy. These looked original to me. I got my authentic copy and compared the quality and these were definately not as good quality. The original is clear and crisp to watch even on a big plasma screen these other ones although they look the same are slightly unclear and some of the picture goes off the edge of the tv screen. I had paid for these by Paypal. Paypal do not refund when the item is faulty or damaged or not what you wanted or even when they are illegal copies they have told me they only refund when you don't get the item at all. "Hinde site I should have pretended I never got the item" instead of telling the truth that they were pirated copies. I emailed the owner of the site to request a refund but I am not expecting to get it back so I am out of pocket $1000. This scam was not easy to spot and I'm sure Ebay only picked it up because of the spelling mistake on the Sex and the city box. I just thought when they had translated they got it wrong. I feel very angry that I've been ripped off but I'm beginning to realise that there are people out there just waiting to rip you off. So buyer beware.
From now on I will only purchase DVD's or CDS from large respected stores and I will never buy these products on Ebay on online again. The internet is a wonderful thing but it has opened up the gateway for the scammers to con people from all around the world.
So don't throw your money away on these poor quality illegal copies. Yes the real ones cost more but in the long run I might as well have just put my money in the rubbish bin as that is all I got ripped off DVDs that I can't watch or sell.
I don't know why the Governments of countries like Australia and the US can't protect consumers from these blantant criminals. Oh and one more thing. Guess where I got the website address to go and purchase the DVD's in the first place. You guessed it a sponsored link on Ebays very own site. So they are actually promoting a fraudulent seller and do nothing about it and there sister company Paypal offered no help or security when thats why we pay the fees to use them in the first place.
